EN|“Fagundes e a descoberta do Canadá” is a biographic study from the author Pedro Magalhães Abreu Coutinho about the life of João Álvares Fagundes. In this book the truth about his life is exposed. In the over cover there is a silhouette, it's from Canadá because it's very important to the story. He live through the XV century, the Portuguese Discoveries, therefore in the cover it made sense that there were indications of these discoveries.
Blue is the prominent colour because it transmits wisdom, the urge of being pure, the colour of truth; this was what the author wanted to transmit with this book: the truth about Fagundes, the purity of the book because it contains the truth. The wooden texture that is evolved with the blue is because if you want to know the age of a tree you have to cut the trunk to see how many rings it has; just like this book, the author had to make a profound investigation.
The wordplay used in the title of the book transmits to the reader the importance of this book to validate Fagundes’s name, without it his name would be forgotten without knowing of his great accomplishments.
PT |“Fagundes e a descoberta do Canadá” trata-se de um estudo biográfico do autor Pedro Magalhães Abreu Coutinho sobre a vida de João Álvares Fagundes. Neste livro a verdade sobre a sua vida é exposta. Na sobre capa encontramos uma silhueta, esta é do Canadá por ser muito importante para a história. A época da sua vivência é no séc. XV, época dos descobrimentos, por isso na capa fazia todo o sentido que houvesse indícios dos descobrimentos. O azul é a cor predominante por ser uma cor que transmite sabedoria, o desejo de ser puro, a cor da verdade; isto era o que o autor pretendia transmitir com este livro: a verdade sobre Fagundes, a pureza do livro por contar apenas verdades. A textura de madeira que se envolve com o azul é devido ao facto de para saber o tempo de vida de uma árvore tem que se cortar o tronco para ver quantos círculos tem; tal como neste livro que o autor teve que fazer uma pesquisa profunda. O jogo de palavras presente no título do livro transmite ao leitor a importância deste livro para enaltecer o nome de Fagundes, pois sem este livro o seu nome seria esquecido sem sabermos dos seus grandes feitos.

EN| This project was meant to create the book covers of a trilogy of any books we wanted. My idea was to pick childhood books that originally have an obscure story line. It was important to show their differences, while still looking part of the same unit.
PT | Neste projeto era suposto criarmos as capas de uma trilogia de quaisquer livros que quiséssemos. A minha ideia foi escolher alguns livros de infância que originalmente têm uma história mais obscura . Era importante realçar as diferenças entre estes, enquanto também se mostrava que faziam parte da mesma unidade.
